Riddle and Finns...

From Mykonos all the way to Brighton where this next post is from. Riddle and Finns is a seafood restaurant in the hear of Brighton's quirky lanes. I am soon glad that I looked on trip advisor before coming to Brighton as this restaurant certainly lived up to its great reviews!

You cannot book a table here but if you pop in they will add your name to the waiting list and give you a time to come back. We had to wait for 45 minutes but headed just around the corner to Cafe Coho for a great cup of coffee to sustain us until our table was ready.

We ordered the Riddle and Finns Classic Platter and two glasses of cold white wine.

As you can see, there was more than enough seafood for the both of us! It included a crab, tiger prawns, normal prawns, mussels, razor clams, cockles, clams, oysters, little sea snails and a lot more that I'm bound to have forgotten. We also got a side of samphire that comes with hollandaise sauce.

The complementary bread basket received on arrival was stunning with sourdough bread, mackerel pate, salted butter and mayonnaise. It was lovely having some free carbs to accompany our seafood platter!

This sneaky photo of my half full wine glass and candlestick also features this strange man who was in fact an actual stranger. The fun of Riddle and Finns is that you share your table with whoever walks through the door! We had a lovely couple sitting opposite us who asked if we wanted our photo taken. Not going to lie, I was a little jealous of their not one but two (!!) bottles of vintage champagne they shared between them.

Sorry if this photo of empty shells grosses you out but I think it shows how fun the whole lunch was, using lots of different tools to scoop, scrape and pull all the little yummy creatures out of their shells.

Yes we did manage to polish the whole platter off between us!

Luckily we were provided with finger bowls to clean our hands after that very messy lunch.

If you and your boo (or even your family) are in the area definitely have a meal at Riddle and Finns. The seafood is so fresh that they even make their own sashimi!
